The Buffalo Sabres out shot the Boston Bruins 45-21, But that wasnt enough as 3 first period goals helped Boston to defeat the Sabres by a score of 4-1. Newly acquired goaltender Alex Auld had one of his best games stopping 44 shots. The first period was plagued with horrible passes and giveaways and thats all that Boston needed to capitalize, the Bruins scored two quick ones within a minute from Savard and Axelsson. Later Buffalo defensemen Jaro Spacek scored another Power Play goal to bring the Sabres within one. That was the closest they were going to get as Peter Schaefer scored to close out the first. Metropolit added the 4th Bruins goal in the third period.
The Sabres played well after the second, but couldn't put the puck past Auld. With the loss Buffalo falls to 13-14-1. In 5th place in the Northeast, 5 point behind 4th place Toronto.
-No Paille last two games, could a trade be in the works? or is he just taking a rest?
-With poor play this year does Stafford get sent down to the Amerks for a conditioning stint?
-Sabres next game is at home on Wednesday against the New York Islanders.
